Safeguarding & Welfare
Jog Derbyshire is an organisation who support community Jogging programmes and activities to help increase physical activity levels and encourage people to become and remain active.
Everyone involved in sport and activity, whether they are a coach, leader, volunteer or participant should never have to worry about abuse or harassment.
Safeguarding in sport is the process of protecting children and adults from harm by providing a safe space in which to be active.
Everyone has a role to play in keeping others safe and people should know what to do if they have any concerns.
They can also help clubs to develop and embed safeguarding best practice within their communities.


What can the Safeguard Lead support with?
· Support group leaders to develop and embed safeguarding best practice within their communities.
· Visit groups and liaise with leaders and volunteers to better understand the needs of individual group.
· Engage with participants, to build awareness around safeguarding and welfare.
· Develop a community hub across the county to provide a space for discussing all things safeguarding and welfare.
· Support groups to review and update their safeguarding and welfare policies.
· Signpost safeguarding training and refreshers for new and existing leaders and coaches.

Adult Safeguarding Policy
Our Adult Safeguarding Policy is in place to support us all in maintaining a safe space, we advocate very strongly that ‘safeguarding is everybody’s business’ and by working together we can ensure we develop a culture where everybody feels listened to, are heard and feel able to speak up when needed.

All children and young people have the right to be cared for, protected from harm and abuse, and to participate in activities which are safe, and in which their rights are respected, and their needs met. Children and young people should get the help they need, when they need it, and their safety is paramount.
